GDPR

Compliance with legal requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

What is the GDPR?

The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is an EU regulation that aims to strengthen and standardize the protection of personal data of EU residents.

The GDPR defines personal data as any information that can lead to the identification of a person. This includes, for example, the name or the e-mail address.

Does EPLAN process personal data?

When using the software and services offered by EPLAN, the processing of personal data is not a priority. Our customers use our EPLAN software solutions for engineering in the fields of electrical engineering, automation and mechatronics in machine, plant, and enclosure construction. Personal data is not processed in the applications themselves.

EPLAN collects personal data exclusively to register users for the EPLAN software offers, log into applications, and perform necessary administrative processes in the cloud application's user and rights management. As a rule, this is the data of our customers' employees or - in exceptional cases - of their customers.

EPLAN alone decides on the means and purposes of processing users' personal data. The object of the services provided by EPLAN is software engineering services. The processing of User data is not the main focus of EPLAN's services.

EPLAN therefore does not process this personal data as a processor but is the "controller" within the meaning of the GDPR.

It is not necessary to conclude an order processing contract.

How does EPLAN ensure the protection of personal data on its platform?

Protecting personal data and only using it as our customers expect us to and as required by the applicable law of the GDPR is a top priority for us. EPLAN collects, processes and stores users' personal data in compliance with the provisions of applicable data protection law. In particular, EPLAN observes the principles of "privacy by design" and "privacy by default" and implements appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure the confidentiality and security of personal data.

EPLAN has described the handling of personal data in its data protection information. Under this Link to the data protection information, you find information about the processing of your personal data when using our websites and services and your rights under the GDPR.

If you wish to delete a user's account, please contact digital-platform@eplan.de. EPLAN will then delete the user's account completely within a reasonable period of time. The correction of personal information such as first and last name is possible within the user administration.

Where does EPLAN store data in the cloud?

We store and process your personal data that we collect when you use the EPLAN Cloud on servers within the EU economic area in compliance with the GDPR.
